Hair Bow

Ok, so thinking that I wanted a fun and easy hair do, I decided to try the hair bow this morning. It wasn't exactly easy, but I think that now that I've figured it out, it will be much easier next time I try it. I used this tutorial and used a mix of the two different ways to make the hair bow.

1. I made a high pony tail off to the side of my head and pulled it half through so it was floppy.

2. I used a topsy tail to pull the bottom layers of my hair (the hair not in my pony tail) through to the front of my hair.

3. I separated the floppy pony tail into two parts and used the hair from the bottom that I had pulled through to wrap through the middle of the two parts and create the middle of the bow.

4. I also left my bangs out so that they didn't fall out of the bow.

Sorry for the lack of pictures, I'll try to take some next time I do the bow :)

God bless you guys!

Old Sweater into Cowl and Legwarmers

I've been wanting more legwarmers to go with my boots and I would wear scarfs every day if that wasn't silly. Solution: Cut up and old sweater and stitch them up. No, this isn't an original idea, but that's alright. Here is my very loose version of the instructions.

To begin, find an old sweater/cardigan at a thrift store. Keep in mind that the wrist of the sweater will need to fit over your calf. The waist of the sweater will be the cowl. I liked getting a cardigan, because of the fun buttons, but it makes not difference for the making of it. I found mine sweater at value village.

1: First, cut off the arms. Also cut a line about two inches above the armpits of the sweater.

2: I decided to do the legwarmers first, so you're going to turn the arms inside out. Then take the ends you just cut and finish them so they won't fray. After having my mom convince me that hot glue wasn't the best option, I chose to sew them up with very loose and poor stitching. Do this with both arms and TA-DA! You're all done!

3. You're going to do basically the same thing with the cowl. Before you finish the cut end, I would try it on and make sure it's the width that you would like. I ended up cutting about four more inches off the first picture. I finished the cowl the same way I did the legwarmers after I undid the buttons.

Now you have two fabulous new accessories to keep you warm!

God bless you!
